Kshatriyas, historically, were that varna or sect of the Hindu society who comprised the ruling and military class. They used to fight wars and be closely involved with safeguarding the peace within the society. But, Kshatriyas of Kumaun are a beautiful exception. With drums and not swords in their hands, their personalities shine through with the colourful clothes that they wear. Adorning one of the most breathtaking tribal outfits, the Kshatriyas of Kumaun wear matching headgears when they go out to play their traditional music. The experience of the singing and the dance fused together beautifully is truly a sight to behold.
